4x4 Travel experiences in Namibia.

The road from Ruacana to Epupa Falls is generally regarded as the Kaokoland Trail, but I renamed it My Kunene Trail because it follows the Kunene River. I became aware of this trail after reading articles and letters to editors in several magazines. Friends of my youngest son visited the trail and brought back stories and photographs of this wonderful and largely desolate north-western corner of Namibia, the regions of  Damaraland and Kaokoland.
Searching for information about these parts of the Namib with its wild mountain ranges was difficult as very few publications focused on this region. But with little information, I planned my route and the dicision was made, I had to go.
My hope is that these following pages will serve as an introduction to a part of the world that few people have seen and through which I have been privileged to travel. My aim is to share these experiences and information I have gathered. My Kaokoland Trail story is in three parts: My Kunene Trail, My Desert Elephant Trail and My Rockart Trail.
In July 1999, my two sons joined me on a journey to Epupa Falls in the far Northern Namibia. Our journey of more than 7500 kilometers started in Roodepoort South Africa, crossed Botswana to the Caprivi, a short visit to Etosha National Park and our 4x4 adventure really started at Ruacana. Click on the buttons below will reveal our story.
Thank you to our Creator who made it possible for me and my two sons to travel through such wonderful world and guided us safely.
